This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the HazmatTag app (the "App") on your Shopify store.

Personal Information the App Collects

When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account:

Device Information:

We collect information about the device and browser you use to access the App, your IP address, and time zone. We collect this using technologies like "Cookies" and "Log files" to help us improve the App's performance.

Store & Product Information:

We access data regarding the products in your store (titles, descriptions, tags) to perform hazardous material scanning.

Account Information:

We collect your name, email address, and store URL to communicate with you and manage your subscription.

Note on AI Processing: To provide advanced compliance scanning, text data from your product descriptions may be processed by third-party artificial intelligence providers (such as OpenAI). This data is processed solely for the purpose of identifying hazardous keywords and is not used to train public AI models.

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

We use the personal information we collect from you in order to provide the App services and to operate the App. Additionally, we use this information to:

  • Communicate with you;
  • Optimize or improve the App; and
  • Provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services (only if you have opted in).

We do not sell your personal data. As a compliance-focused tool, your data privacy is our priority.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We may share your Personal Information with third parties to help us provide our services, as described above.

Shopify:

OpenAI:

We utilize OpenAI's API to perform text analysis on product descriptions.

Legal Compliance:

We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

Data Retention

When you use the App, we will maintain your Account Information and Scan History for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
